Hey, Guys! Some Important News for Old Samsung Users!
Hello, folks! I just got some news that’s got me thinking hard. As someone whose life revolves around gadgets, I always follow the latest updates, especially when it comes to phones. Well, this week, Samsung made an announcement that might disappoint some of you, or maybe you’re thinking, “Oh, it’s about time.” So, here’s the deal: Samsung has officially announced that three of their Galaxy phones, namely the Galaxy A51 5G, Galaxy A41, and Galaxy M01, will no longer receive security updates. Yes, really, their security updates have stopped! It’s a mixed feeling, because I know a lot of people are still happy using these series.
Why Are These Three Phones Stopping Updates? Here’s What I Know!
You’re probably asking, “Wait, how?” Well, here’s the reason I understand. These three phones (A51 5G, A41, M01) are already four years old! They were first launched on the global market between April and June 2020. And usually, Samsung guarantees security updates for four years. So, technically, it’s in accordance with Samsung’s ‘promise’ from the beginning. Personally, I understand that every gadget has its lifespan, including software support.
This means that, from now on, those phones will no longer receive security flaw fixes or system optimizations from Samsung. Although, you know, we never know, if there’s a *super duper* critical flaw, maybe Samsung will still push an emergency update. But for regular updates? That’s it, guys!
So, What About the Android OS?
Not only security updates, the operating system (OS) updates for Android are also finished. When they were first released, all three used Android 10. Now, the Galaxy A51 5G has tasted Android 13, while the A41 and M01 are on Android 12. Well, that’s the last Android version you’ll experience on those phones. I often see people asking in forums, “Why isn’t my phone getting the latest Android anymore?” Well, here’s the answer. Each phone has its own update quota.
Is It Still Safe to Use, Though? My Personal Experience & Suggestions
The million-dollar question: “So, can I still use my phone normally?” The answer is: still very much usable! I myself have accompanied friends or acquaintances who still use older phones, and they can still scroll through TikTok, chat, or open social media. But, this needs to be emphasized: the security risk will increase.
Imagine, like a house whose window locks are never replaced, even though there’s new lock technology that’s much safer. Well, your phone is similar. If you often surf the internet, make online transactions, or use applications that require extra security, I highly recommend being more cautious. This isn’t to scare you, but more as a precaution. I myself, if there’s a gadget that no longer gets security updates, usually start thinking about upgrading, especially if I have a lot of important data there.
Time to Look at Something New? Here Are My Choices!
If you feel it’s time to move on or want something safer and more updated, Samsung itself has many interesting options. If your budget is mid-range, the Galaxy A35 5G or A55 5G are excellent choices. The screen is great, the performance is fast, and the camera is also top-notch. They start from Rp 5.5 million and Rp 6.5 million. In my opinion, this is a very worth it upgrade from the A51 series. But if you want something more budget-friendly, the Galaxy A05s can be a good choice, with a price of around Rp 2.1 million, which is quite reasonable for a daily driver that will definitely get longer update support.
The bottom line is, the choice is in your hands. But as a fellow tech enthusiast, I can only advise. If you feel comfortable and have no problems, just keep going. But if security is a priority, maybe it’s time to check out something fresher! What do you think? Let’s discuss in the comments section!
