Makassar – The Youth and Sports Department (Dispora) of Makassar City successfully held Passion & Tech Week (MPTW) 2024, attracting hundreds of enthusiastic youth to attend the event at Mall Nipah Makassar. Participants were eager to follow various classes and materials presented by experts.
The Acting Head of the Makassar City Dispora, Andi Tenri Lengka Bau Djemma, revealed that this event aims to prepare Makassar youth for the Digital Era. “We want to ensure that the youth in Makassar City can achieve their aspirations and desired job opportunities,” said Andi Tenri Lengka, Sunday (July 7, 2024).
Engka, as she is commonly known, explained that many young people today face anxiety and pessimism about their future. “After graduating from college, many don’t know how to enter the world of work. This activity provides real-world experience about the world of work, especially in improving human resources,” she explained.
As a former Secretary of Tourism for Makassar City, Engka acknowledged that many young people fail in the job search process simply because they lack skills in interviews and CV creation. Therefore, Dispora provides a learning space by presenting classes taught by expert speakers in their fields.
“In this class, young people are taught how to face job interviews, undergo work, and various other important skills. Especially in this digital era, having competent skills is very important,” she added. “We want them to have good human resources, skills, and experience that can make them competitive in the world of work.”
Head of Youth Empowerment Division of Makassar Dispora, Muhammad Dasysyara Dahyar, added that the Makassar City Government provides space for youth to learn various techniques such as creating job application CVs and interviews. “We also provide them with neat social media skills and career consultations,” he said.
In addition, this event also prepared various other activities for young people, including a business idea and startup competition. “There is also a job market and the world of entrepreneurship,” added Muhammad Dasysyara Dahyar.
Makassar Passion and Tech Week is an annual event held on Saturday-Sunday, July 6-7, 2024, at Mall Nipah Makassar, and is expected to continue to support the development of youth in Makassar City.
