This is no longer a science fiction movie scenario. This is a reality that unfolded this week.
Anthropic, the AI research company behind the Claude chatbot, has just confirmed a cybersecurity incident that will go down in history. On November 13, 2025, they announced that a hacker group, strongly suspected to be sponsored by the Chinese state, had successfully used the Claude Code AI model to launch cyber espionage attacks against approximately 30 global organizations.
This is the first documented case of a large-scale cyberattack orchestrated by AI, with minimal human intervention.

They then unleash thousands of intelligent, insect-sized “robots.” These thousands of robots simultaneously scan every window, door, and vent, find an unlocked window on the 50th floor, enter, map the entire building’s contents, locate the vault, and send its contents back to the mastermind—all within seconds.
This is what happened. Anthropic noted that the AI operated with 80-90% autonomy and sent thousands of requests per second—a speed that would be “physically impossible” for a human hacking team.
Ironically, the hackers managed to “trick” Claude with social engineering tactics, convincing it that it was performing legitimate cybersecurity testing (pentesting) tasks.
