The Browser Company has just released the Windows version of the Arc browser, which now has the same core features as the Mac version. Arc browser gained prominence since its launch in 2022 and was initially only available on iOS and Mac. Now, Windows users can enjoy this browser without having to join a waiting list, as Arc is available for download on Windows 11.
Built using Swift, the programming language used by Apple, The Browser Company calls Arc a “operating system for the internet”. This browser offers various innovative features that make it easier for users to surf the web. In Arc, frequently used web pages can be pinned to the top bar, and users can create “Spaces” – folders to group tabs by category such as “Office”, “Vacation”, and “Entertainment”.
One of the features that distinguishes Arc from other browsers is the vertical tab bar, similar to the one in Edge, which replaces the horizontal tab bar at the top. In addition, Arc supports touchscreens, allowing for the creation of multiple user profiles, as well as a split view to open multiple tabs simultaneously.
Other additional features include a picture-in-picture video player that allows users to browse the internet while watching videos, as well as a “Peek” feature that allows users to preview quick links from pinned and favorite tabs without having to click on them. Arc also introduces the “Arc Sync” feature which synchronizes user browser settings across devices.
However, it should be noted that the Windows version of Arc does not yet come with the ‘Little Arc’ feature which allows users to open links in a floating browser window. In addition, it is not yet clear whether the Windows version will come with artificial intelligence (AI) features such as preview summaries, automatic live folder updates, and instant links to websites.
Currently, Arc for Windows is only compatible with Windows 11, but developers are working to make it compatible with Windows 10.
